She recognizes that there are multiple pathways that take can take us towards the ultimate goal of recovering.  An eating disorder often meets a variety needs which can understandably make it terrifying for a person to consider a life without it.  For this reason, Tanya focuses her work not only on improving your relationship with food and your body, but doing the “deeper” work that aims to explore and address the key systems in which the eating disorder exists.  These may include a person's family dynamics, trauma and attachment concerns, and emotional temperament, awareness, and management.  If we can partner together to build a deeper understanding of yourself and begin to heal within these systems, we may be able to find new ways to help your nervous system feel safe enough to live without your eating disorder.

In individual treatment, Tanya applies an electric approach from the modalities she is trained in and most passionate about.  The main modalities she uses are EMDR, parts work (IFS and ego state therapy), CBT-(E), and ACT.  She aims to incorporate plenty of mindfulness and distress tolerance skills into each of these frameworks.  She is a strong believer in providing family therapy and parenting support as a valuable avenue that supports younger clients in their healing.  With families and parents, she uses a combination of EFFT, Family Systems Therapy, and Family-Based Treatment.
